Listing files and estimating purge time

After the files to be purged, and the type of purge, have been specified you can get an estimate of how long the operation will take by clicking on the List and estimate time button, provided that the purge speed has been tested.

The sum of the file sizes is reported, and an estimate is made of the time that the purge will require, based on the total of the file sizes, the number of files (one large file is purged more quickly than many small files) and the number of overwrites of each file (which is implied by the type of purge currently selected). An estimate can be provided only after the purge speed has been tested (as described in Testing purge speed). Once this has been done, the program will make use of this information, calculating estimated times for various numbers of overwrites (up to 24).
